Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jani Pekkanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Augusto Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Pekkanen.
Pekkanen takes a swing at Maia's ribcage but misses.
A big left from Pekkanen misses.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Pekkanen swings for the body but Maia moves out of range.

Maia darts in and clinches Pekkanen up against the ropes.
Maia doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Pekkanen gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Maia.

Pekkanen prevents the takedown attempt.
Pekkanen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Maia walks away with a smile on his face. Pekkanen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Pekkanen throws a hook to the side of Maia's head but Maia sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Pekkanen avoids a punch combination nicely.

Maia gets the takedown into side control.
Pekkanen wants to get back to his feet but Maia drags him back down.

Maia is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pekkanen has escaped the position, nice work there.

Maia has an Americana. Pekkanen didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Maia is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Maia hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
