The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawsoner tries to clinch up but Cano circles away and keeps his distance.

Cano ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
No joy there for Lawsoner, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cano throws a series of punches but Lawsoner moves out of range.
Lawsoner fails in his attempt to clinch.

and Cano counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Robbie Lawsoner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cano fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lawsoner sprawls well initially but Cano persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Cano slips a nice elbow through Lawsoner's hands, connecting with Lawsoner's forehead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Still in half guard, Cano seems content to control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cano's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Cano throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Lawsoner stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Cano misses with a takedown attempt - Lawsoner sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Cano is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lawsoner can do to turn this around?

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
