PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rob Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Austin Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Say Yeah. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rob Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Austin Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paulsen Ambrosius and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson moves in looking to clinch but Anderson pushes him off.

Johnson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Johnson is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Anderson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Anderson wants to get back to full guard but Johnson has passed into side control.
Johnson misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Anderson tries to reverse the position but Johnson maintains control.
Anderson tries to lock up and control but Johnson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Anderson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Anderson wants to control but Johnson is having none of it.

Anderson is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Johnson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Anderson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Anderson shrugs it off.

Johnson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Anderson manages to avoid the submission attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Johnson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Anderson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Johnson's guard! Nice work there by Anderson!

Johnson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Anderson defends it easily.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
Anderson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Johnson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Anderson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Rob Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Anderson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Anderson goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Johnson turns into him and now he's in Anderson's guard.
Johnson throws a strike but Anderson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Johnson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Johnson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Johnson feints and as Anderson raises his hands in defense, Johnson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Johnson drops back looking for a leg! Anderson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Anderson manages to kick Johnson off! Johnson jumps back into Anderson's guard.

Johnson prevents Anderson from getting back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Johnson misses with a takedown attempt

so Anderson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Anderson tries to free his leg and advance position but Johnson is retaining full guard.
Anderson is looking to advance position but Johnson has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Johnson controlling the pace for now.
Johnson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Anderson is looking to get to half guard.
Johnson controlling the position easily from mount.
Johnson thowing shots but they're missing.
Anderson tries to hold on but Johnson postures up.

Poor strikes thrown by Johnson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Rob Johnson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Anderson is squirming around, avoiding Johnson's attempts to control the action.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Anderson wants to control but Johnson is having none of it.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Johnson lands a big shot there that rocks Anderson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rob Johnson will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Johnson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Johnson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Johnson looking to isolate an arm here. Anderson doesn't see it coming and as Johnson extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Johnson!
