PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Henderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Henderson comes to the cage accompanied by aint no rest for the wicked. Gracie is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: I will survive. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyle Henderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Gracie!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Steve Montenegro and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie gets caught flat footed, as Henderson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Gracie can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Henderson controls the pace.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Kyle Henderson just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gracie trying to keep a closed guard but Henderson is proving a slippery customer.
Henderson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Gracie counters with a one-two to the body.

and Gracie decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Henderson's guard.

Gracie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown. Henderson tries to sprawl out of it but Gracie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Henderson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

so Gracie counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Michael Gracie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Henderson is taking a breather. Gracie says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Henderson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
