Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Hammor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Belfort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Josh Hammor has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Josh Hammor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Victor Belfort!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammor misses with a wild combination.
Belfort looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Hammor tries to clinch but Belfort moves out of range.

Hammor throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Belfort was covering up waiting for the punch and Hammor finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Hammor gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Belfort closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hammor to the mat! Hammor manages to get full guard.
Hammor is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Hammor pushes Belfort off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Hammor shoots for a takedown but Belfort saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Belfort gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hammor to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Hammor stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Belfort defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hammor.
Belfort stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josh Hammor. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hammor shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Hammor decides to return to a standing position.
Hammor dives in and grabs Belfort's left leg, looking for a takedown. Belfort pushes down on Hammor's head and hops out.

Belfort drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Hammor has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Belfort off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Belfort misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Belfort tries to clinch up.
Hammor throws a nice looking combination but Belfort bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hammor dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Belfort bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Belfort wants to control but Hammor is keeping him busy.
Hammor avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Belfort.
Hammor is trying to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Belfort is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hammor knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Hammor is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Belfort is controlling him well.

Hammor explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Belfort drives through and clinches with Hammor against the cage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Hammor breaks the clinch.
Hammor stuffs the takedown attempt from Belfort. Belfort gets slowly back to his feet.
No joy there for Belfort, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Belfort scores a takedown into full mount!
Hammor is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Poor strikes thrown by Belfort there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Belfort unloads with some shots from mount but Hammor bucks and avoids them well.

Belfort working for a guillotine from mount but Hammor is in no mood to give up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Josh Hammor will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Belfort closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Hammor manages to break the clinch.
Hammor doesn't manage to clinch there - Belfort circles away.

Hammor clinches.
Belfort will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Hammor up against the cage.

Hammor breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Hammor shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Hammor stands up and beckons Belfort to join him on the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hammor clinches up with Belfort and pushes him back against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hammor jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Belfort walks away with a smile on his face. Hammor gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Hammor drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hammor passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Hammor controls the position from side control.

Hammor tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Hammor stands up and we're back to a striking position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Belfort misses with a head kick.

Hammor forces Belfort back against the cage and clinches.
Belfort lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Hammor changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Belfort fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Belfort leaves Hammor with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Hammor looks for the body kick but Belfort saw that one coming.

and Belfort counters with a single leg into guard. Hammor didn't expect that.

Belfort wants to control from the top but Hammor keeps moving.

Belfort missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Hammor uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Belfort is looking to clinch but Hammor is avoiding it.
Hammor connects with a high kick.
Hammor throws a head kick but Belfort moves out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Belfort. No joy for Hammor on that attempt.

and Belfort counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Hammor drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Belfort gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Belfort wants a takedown.
Belfort lands a knee to the head.
Hammor jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Belfort walks away with a smile on his face. Hammor gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Belfort moves out of range of the body kick from Hammor.

and Hammor holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Hammor is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Belfort gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Hammor tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Hammor escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hammor slips a jab and a cross from Belfort.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hammor clinches.
Belfort prevents Hammor from breaking the clinch.
Hammor wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Hammor dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Belfort walks into a jab.

Hammor moves into the clinch.

Hammor breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hammor misses with a takedown

and Belfort counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Belfort.
Belfort has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hammor is proving hard to escape from.

Belfort wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Hammor's closed guard. He's half up but Hammor has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Hammor pivots and extends the arm, Belfort falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Hammor! Well done that man!
