PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adam Petruzelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Petruzelli comes to the cage accompanied by Intro - DMX. Mario Lopez will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petruzelli needs to keep his hands up - Lopez had a free shot at his head there.
Lopez stuffs the takedown.

Petruzelli could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Lopez looks to land a right hand but Petruzelli moved out of range.
Petruzelli shoots in for a double leg but Lopez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Petruzelli uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lopez.
Lopez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Petruzelli darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Lopez is trying to stand.

Lopez is looking for a sweep. Petruzelli is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Petruzelli is taking a breather. Lopez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Petruzelli stands up and beckons Lopez to join him on the feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Petruzelli throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lopez's waist but Lopez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Petruzelli off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Petruzelli. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Petruzelli tries to clinch up but Lopez circles away and keeps his distance.
Lopez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Lopez connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Petruzelli closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Petruzelli is working to tighten is grip on Lopez's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Lopez has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Petruzelli is really squeezing tight and eventually Lopez passes out! Petruzelli breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
