The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
mcPherson shoots in for a double leg but Momesso sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Momesso throws a hook to the side of mcPherson's head but mcPherson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Momesso tries to bum rush mcPherson with a series of wild strikes but mcPherson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and mcPherson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Momesso's guard now.
mcPherson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Momesso on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Momesso tries to get out of the position.

Momesso is looking to get back to is feet but mcPherson passes into side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Momesso has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
mcPherson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
mcPherson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Momesso is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
mcPherson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Momesso has escaped the position, nice work there.
Momesso knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for mcPherson on the ground.
Momesso tries to get back to half guard but can't.
mcPherson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no mcPherson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
mcPherson works to advance to full mount. Momesso defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

mcPherson is working for a guillotine from mount but Momesso frees his head quite easily.

Momesso tries to lock up and control but mcPherson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
mcPherson quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for mcPherson but it's paid off an Momesso is forced to tap! Nice work by mcPherson.
