Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Balmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos da Guia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Carlos da Guia enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Balmer is defended easily by da Guia.

da Guia tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Balmer looks for a takedown but da Guia sprawls well.
Balmer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Balmer postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! da Guia is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Balmer, into his guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Jimmy Balmer will probably get the nod.

Balmer closes the distance and clinches up with da Guia, looking for a takedown. Balmer pushes da Guia against the cage but da Guia circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Balmer throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around da Guia's waist but da Guia gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Balmer off to one side.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Balmer jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as da Guia walks away with a smile on his face. Balmer gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
da Guia misses the shot to the body.
Horrible takedown by Balmer or perhaps it was just good defense by da Guia which made him look bad.

da Guia pulls guard effortlessly.
Balmer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. da Guia swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Balmer is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and da Guia defends well.

Balmer is looking for a triangle here but da Guia uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

da Guia is looking to take a break and control but Balmer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Balmer tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but da Guia presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Balmer is working to get back to half guard.
da Guia really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Balmer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
da Guia throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Balmer shoots in but no luck this time.

Balmer has hold of da Guia's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and da Guia manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Balmer wants to finish this one by submission but da Guia is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Balmer.
