PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Konrad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Rogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jacob Konrad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Randy Rogan!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Konrad darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Rogan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Konrad has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Rogan has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Konrad uses from the top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Konrad looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rogan is fending him off so far but Konrad persists. Nope, Rogan circles away and we're back to standing.

and Rogan counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Rogan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That was a close round but I would say that Jacob Konrad will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Konrad throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Konrad is trying to drag Rogan to the mat but Rogan just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Konrad is staying active underneath Rogan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Konrad is not content to let Rogan control the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rogan wants to advance to full mount but Konrad doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Randy Rogan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Konrad stands up from Rogan's guard - Konrad perhaps looking for a knockout.
Rogan tries to clinch there but Konrad circles away.

Rogan drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rogan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Konrad keeping moving, preventing Rogan from controlling successfully.
Rogan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Jacob Konrad showed his dominance in that final round.
