Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolay Nechvidov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Whos Now!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Now. No joy for Nechvidov on that attempt.
Now looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Now.
Nechvidov fails to land with a series of punches.
Now throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Nechvidov clinches up against the cage.
Nechvidov drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Knees in the clinch landing for Nechvidov.
Now looking to slow down the pace here.
Now fails to pull guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Now takes a knee to the side of the body.
Now is pressed up against the cage. Nechvidov has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Now down to the mat. Now avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nikolay Nechvidov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nechvidov closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Nechvidov pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Now misses with the combination.

Now is staying active underneath Nechvidov, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Now avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Nechvidov.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Now can do anything to dispel that myth.
Nechvidov not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Nechvidov keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Now is not content to let Nechvidov control the position.
Nechvidov is thwarting Now's attempts to control the position.
Now is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Nechvidov wants to take a breather but Now is having none of it.

Nechvidov slows the pace down in half guard.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Nikolay Nechvidov just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
The crowd cheers as Nechvidov lands an impressive looking overhand right. Now doesn't seem phased though.
Now doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Nechvidov counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Now is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Now throws and low kick but Nechvidov moves out of range easily.
Now closes the distance looking to clinch

so Nechvidov counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Now is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Now looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Now keeping moving, preventing Nechvidov from controlling successfully.
Nechvidov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Now looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nechvidov is one step ahead there.

Now pushes Nechvidov off and scrambles back to his feet.

Nechvidov shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Now keeps the fight on the outside.
Now tries to clinch there but Nechvidov circles away.

Now closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nechvidov to the mat! Nechvidov manages to get full guard.
Now won't allow Nechvidov to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nechvidov trying to keep a closed guard but Now is proving a slippery customer.
Now trying to control but Nechvidov is working from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Now is looking to advance position but Nechvidov has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Nechvidov tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Now looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Now can't escape the position.
Nechvidov is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Nechvidov gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Nechvidov gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Nechvidov apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Now shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nechvidov defends it nicely.

Nechvidov fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Now, pushing him back against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Now fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Nechvidov looking for a takedown.
Nechvidov drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Now gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Nechvidov is pressed up against the cage. Now has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Nechvidov down to the mat. Nechvidov avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Nikolay Nechvidov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Whos Now.
Now wants to clinch

and Nechvidov counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Now keeping moving, preventing Nechvidov from controlling successfully.

Now is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Nechvidov trying to control but Now is working from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Now is on top in guard.
Now pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nechvidov is keeping the position for now.
Nechvidov wants to stand up but Now is controlling him.
Now stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nechvidov swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Nechvidov wants to sweep here but Now controlling him for the moment.
Nechvidov is looking to stand back up but Now counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Nechvidov.
Now is keen to just control but Nechvidov is a slippery customer.
Now scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Nechvidov wants to control but Now passes into side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nikolay Nechvidov dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Now closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Now thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Now is trying to control. Nechvidov wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Nechvidov looks like he's trying to stand up.
Nikolay Nechvidov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Nechvidov is refusing to be controlled, as Now sits in half guard.

Now is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nechvidov is just riding it out for now. Now eventually gives up the hold.
Now seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nechvidov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Now throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Now is looking to take a break and control but Nechvidov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Nechvidov shoots and misses

and Now counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Nechvidov pushes Now off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Nechvidov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Now sprawls well. Now wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nechvidov gets slowly back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Now tries to clinch up.
Now scores with a crisp jab that stopped Nechvidov in his tracks.
Now leaves Nechvidov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nikolay Nechvidov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nechvidov tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Now counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Now blocks the strikes from Nechvidov.
Now with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Nechvidov tries to roll over but Now keeps him under control.
Now is taking a breather. Nechvidov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Nechvidov moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Now controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Nechvidov is pulling down on Now's head. It's preventing any offense from Now, at least for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Nechvidov wants to get back to his feet but Now is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Now controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Nechvidov will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Now trying to control but Nechvidov is working from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Whos Now comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Nechvidov has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
