Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Urijah Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cruz is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: La Cuckoracha. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz staying out of range there.
Cote avoids the body shot from Cruz.
Cote throws a wild body kick that Cruz sees coming a mile off.
Cote fails in his attempt to clinch.
Cruz throws a low kick, looking for Cote's leg but Cote calmly moves out of range.
Cruz listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Cote looking to land some kicks to the body here.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cruz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Cote lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cruz circles away quickly and effectively.
Cruz throws a one two combo.

Cruz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cote lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Cote misses with a straight right.
Cote blocks the body kick.
Cote lands with a nice combination. Cruz backs away looking to recover.
It looks like Jose Cruz has been cut.
Cote tries to move into range but Cruz moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Oh Cote is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cruz fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Cote is breathing heavily.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Cruz successfully pulls guard.

Cruz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Cote seems to have got his legs back now.
Cruz not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Cote pushes Cruz off looking to stand but Cruz dives back in and keeps control.
Cote wants to improve his position but Cruz is controlling well.
Cruz trying to control the action but Cote is working from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cote is trying to stand up here but Cruz is controlling him well.
Well, if Cruz is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Cruz throwing shots but Cote is blocking nicely.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cote wants to clinch but Cruz slips to the side
and Cruz makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Cruz drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Cruz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Cote closes the distance and clinches.
Cruz lands a nice uppercut.
Cruz tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cote smiles and moves away.
Cruz is looking to clinch but Cote is avoiding it.
Cruz staying out of range there.
Cruz doesn't manage to clinch there - Cote circles away.
Cruz is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cote forces Cruz back against the cage and clinches.
Cote drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cruz pulls his leg out and moves away.
Cote misses with a body shot
and Cruz counters by clinching up.
Cruz tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cote just stands there and leans against the cage.
Cote fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Cote is trying to drag Cruz to the mat but Cruz just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Urijah Cote. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cote trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Cruz pushes Cote off and gets back to his feet.
Cruz moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Cruz gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Cruz tries to pull guard but Cote won't allow it.
Cruz breaks from the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cote scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Cruz lands a hook that stumbles Cote back into the cage. Cruz follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Cote to the canvas! Cruz pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Cote has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
