PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mr E (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Scott's choice of entrance music: Down. The key to victory for Mr E has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mr E!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nathan Scott!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Scott has managed to clinch.
Scott has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. E is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Scott missing with knees to the body.

Scott pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Scott fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Scott gets a takedown into half guard.

Scott is working for a submission of some sort.

E pushes Scott off and gets back to his feet.
Scott shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with E but E pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mr E has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nathan Scott.
E throws a nice head kick!

Scott shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. E manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

E wants to sweep here but Scott controlling him for the moment.

Scott loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
E controls Scott momentarily but Scott frees himself.
E has momentary wrist control but Scott slips an elbow through the middle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Scott gets to his feet. E looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Nathan Scott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Scott shoots in looking for a takedown. E tries to sprawl out of it but Scott keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. E manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Scott looks gassed!
E bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
E punishes Scott's body with a nice straight punch.
E lands with a nice body punch.
E misses with a series of wild punches.
A nice leg kick lands there from E.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
E lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
E scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
E scores with a leg kick.
Scott takes one to the chin there.
E smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
E plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from E, right into the meat.
E moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

E feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Scott sprawling to the canvas! Scott rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can E finish him?!


Scott is rocked!
E lets loose with a powerful body kick. Scott will feel that in the morning.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by E.
Scott tries to clinch up but E circles away and keeps his distance.
Nice sprawl there from E as Scott shoots in.
E scores with a crisp jab that stopped Scott in his tracks.
E throws a leg kick which misses Scott's front leg but catches the back leg as Scott tries to avoid it.
E throws a front kick that sends Scott stumbling back into the cage.

Crunch! E slams his shin into Scott's torso.
Scott on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by E. E obviously looking to wear him down.
Scott on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Nice uppercut there from E.
E is looking to slow Scott down with leg kicks.
Scott takes one on the chin but seems OK.
E scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Scott's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
E connects with a body shot.
E scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Scott tries to clinch but E moves out of range.
E displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Scott.
Mr E is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
E throws a head kick but Scott moves out of range.

Scott shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

E pushes Scott off and scrambles back to his feet.
Scott shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with E but E pushes him off and we're back to square one.
E scores with a leg kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Scott needs to keep his hands up - E had a free shot at his head there.
Scott on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by E. E obviously looking to wear him down.

Scott ducks right into an uppercut from E.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mr E dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

E misses with a head kick.
Scott fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but E avoids it really well and circles away.
A solid leg kick lands there for E.
E stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and E wants it to stay on the feet.
Scott tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
E tests Scott's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Scott takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
E misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Scott chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before E can pounce on him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Scott has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

E connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
E lands a front kick.
E lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Scott at a distance.
E scores with a jab. Scott acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
A left and a right from E both land. Nice combination.
Scott fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mr E has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nathan Scott.
E lands a nice looking kick to the body. Scott takes a step back to recover.
Scott takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
E connects with a good right hand that stumbles Scott. Scott circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
E keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

E is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Scott can do to turn this around?

E moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Scott tries to score a power double leg takedown but E sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Scott somewhat.
Mr E is winning the standup battle so far.
Scott on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Scott tries to clinch but E moves out of range.
E slaps away a takedown attempt from Scott, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A decent looking body kick lands there for E.
Good leg kick by E there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

E misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
E scores with a hook to the body. Scott takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

E lands a front kick.
E feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Scott's calf.
Scott has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from E.
E scores with a jab to the head.
Scott shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. E defends it nicely.
A decent looking cross lands there for E.
No luck for Scott with that takedown attempt.
E scores with a kick to the midsection.
E thows a body kick. Scott tries to catch it but that hurt him.
E connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

E scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
E connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Scott misses with a takedown attempt - E sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
E connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
E catches Scott with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Scott takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Scott closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
E chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
E throws a head kick but Scott moves out of range.
Scott shoots in but no luck this time.
Scott takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Scott walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Scott takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from E - that will leave a mark!

E throws a leg kick which misses Scott's front leg but catches the back leg as Scott tries to avoid it.
E lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
E misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
E scores with a nice right hand.
E throws a front kick that sends Scott stumbling back into the cage.
E works Scott's body with a nice hook.
E scores with a spinning back kick!
Scott takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Scott stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from E.
E buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Scott.
Scott takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

E lands the left hand.

Scott shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

E is defending against the submission attempts here by Scott.

Scott is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. E doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Scott.

E has his hands on Scott's head, controlling the position.
E is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Scott is controlling him.

Scott drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but E manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Scott has E in his guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for E, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
