The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Severn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Payne sprawls well. Payne wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Severn gets slowly back to his feet.
Payne misses the shot to the body.
Severn slips a straight right by Payne.

Payne bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Severn! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

It looks like Dan Severn has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Severn utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Severn working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Payne.
Payne slips nicely into half guard.
Severn is trying to maintain the position but Payne is very close to passing his half guard.
Severn throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Severn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Payne on the ground.
Payne is looking to advance position but Severn won't allow it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Severn avoids the body shot from Payne.
Severn avoids the head kick by Payne.
Severn walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Payne checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Severn fails with the takedown.
Payne fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Severn manages to avoid it.
Payne misses with a wild body shot.
Payne throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Payne drops his shoulder and cracks Severn with a huge uppercut! Severn goes down! Can Payne finish him?

Severn is rocked!
Severn on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Severn tries to get out of the position.
Severn is breathing heavily.
Payne looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Oh Severn is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Severn isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Payne stacks Severn on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Payne!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Payne cracks Severn with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Payne immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Severn is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Payne!
