PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Z Mann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lesnar comes to the cage accompanied by YOU JUST LOST - To ME. Mann has chosen Birdland as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Z Mann is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Randy Lesnar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Z Mann!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mann is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lesnar's half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mann connects with a nice short shot to Lesnar's temple.
Lesnar avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Mann.

Lesnar regains full guard. Nicely done.
Lesnar looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mann is one step ahead there.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Lesnar feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mann throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Lesnar drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Lesnar works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Mann is trying to improve his position.

The ground and pound from Lesnar seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Mann wants to get back to his feet.

Lesnar is working Mann over with some ground and pound from side control.

Mann takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randy Lesnar dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Lesnar checks a leg kick.

Mann is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mann throws a shot from downtown. Lesnar moves away and avoids it.
The fighters circling - Mann throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Mann scores with a crisp jab that stopped Lesnar in his tracks.
Mann connects with a right hand. Lesnar shakes it off.


It looks like Randy Lesnar has been cut.
Lesnar looks for a takedown but Mann sprawls well.

and Mann counters with a single leg into guard. Lesnar didn't expect that.
Mann chips away with some ground and pound.
Mann slips nicely into half guard.

Lesnar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mann manages to get himself to full guard.
Lesnar wants to control from the top but Mann keeps moving.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lesnar seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Z Mann showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Randy Lesnar's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Lesnar is looking to improve his position but Mann isn't that keen on the idea.

Mann lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Mann is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Lesnar can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Mann unloads with some shots from mount but Lesnar bucks and avoids them well.

Mann is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lesnar can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Mann is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Lesnar can't escape the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mann landing strikes from the mount and Lesnar is in trouble!

Lesnar wants to hold on but Mann pushes him away.
Lesnar is looking to get to half guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
