Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Reggie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mario Lopez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Reggie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mario Lopez!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Franklyn Lucas and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lopez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Reggie circles away quickly and effectively.
Lopez misses with a wild body shot.
Lopez misses with an uppercut.

Reggie closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lopez to the mat! Lopez manages to get full guard.
Reggie throws a big right hand that misses.
Reggie showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Lopez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Reggie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Reggie stands up and waves to Lopez to follow him.

Reggie throws a series of punches but Lopez avoids them all with ease.
Lopez shoots and misses

and Reggie counters with a shoot takedown. Lopez fights it but they end up in guard.

Reggie wants to control from the top but Lopez keeps moving.

Reggie is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lopez tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Reggie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Reggie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Reggie wants to control from the top but Lopez keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Lopez misses with a hook.
Lopez throws a lazy right hand but Reggie sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Reggie fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lopez scores with the left hand. Reggie knows he should have avoided that one.
A looping hook to the body misses from Lopez. Reggie does a little dance to reset his feet.

Reggie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lopez sprawls well initially but Reggie persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Reggie is breathing heavily.

Reggie postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Lopez to stand up.
Lopez connects with a jab.
Reggie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lopez as he avoids it easily.

Lopez changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Mario Lopez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A jab from Lopez finds it's way through Reggie's defenses.
Reggie bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Reggie shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lopez is trying to defend but Reggie finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Reggie tries to pass to full mount but Lopez defends it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Reggie thows a huge punch but Lopez dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Lopez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Reggie.
Lopez throws a hook but Reggie avoids it easily.
Lopez digs a good body shot into Reggie's ribs.
Lopez misses with a hook. Reggie ducked under it nicely.
A left and a right from Lopez both land. Nice combination.
Lopez throws an overhand right that lands on Reggie's shoulder, as Reggie tries to avoid the shot.
Lopez scores with a jab. Reggie acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Lopez takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
A slow jab from Lopez misses its intended target.
Reggie throws a head kick but Lopez moves out of range.
Lopez misses with a takedown

and Reggie counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Reggie content to control rather than advance.

Lopez is defending against the submission attempts here by Reggie.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Reggie landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Lopez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Reggie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lopez is not content to let Reggie control the position.
Lopez is trying to get back to full guard.

Reggie decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Reggie shoots in looking for a takedown. Lopez tries to sprawl out of it but Reggie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lopez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lopez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Reggie's waist but Reggie gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lopez off to one side.
Lopez misses with a looping left.

Reggie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Lopez clobbers Reggie with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Reggie closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Reggie is trying to work for a kimura but Lopez is defending well.
Reggie is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Lopez!
Lopez stops Reggie from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Reggie thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Reggie has control of Lopez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Lopez regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Reggie with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Reggie tries to control but Lopez wriggling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Reggie controlling the action here.
Lopez wants to improve his position but Reggie is controlling well.

Reggie stands up and beckons Lopez to join him on the feet.
George Reggie is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lopez slaps away a takedown attempt from Reggie, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Reggie shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lopez defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Reggie. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lopez swings for the body but Reggie moves out of range.
Reggie doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Lopez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Reggie has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Lopez uses from the top position.
George Reggie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Reggie pulls Lopez in close to prevent any damage.

Lopez scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

You can see the frustration on Lopez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Mario Lopez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

George Reggie showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Reggie, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
