PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Evan Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Inside the Fire-Disturbed kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lewis shoots in and drives through. Davis sprawls well.
Davis doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Lewis counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Good leg kick by Lewis there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Lewis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Lewis moves into the clinch successfully.
Davis tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Lewis stops a takedown attempt from Davis.
Lewis stalling in the clinch but Davis improves position.
Davis drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lewis pulls his leg out and moves away.
Evan Lewis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Davis.
Horrible takedown by Davis or perhaps it was just good defense by Lewis which made him look bad.

and Lewis makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Lewis throws a head kick that Davis semi-blocks.

Lewis shoots in but no luck this time.
Ryan Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Davis gets a takedown into half guard.
Davis landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Davis is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Davis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Davis is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Lewis!
Lewis misses with a takedown attempt - Davis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Davis feints and as Lewis raises his hands in defense, Davis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lewis pulls Davis in close to prevent any damage.

Davis drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Davis seems to have locked his on tight now - Lewis screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Davis, as he picks up the win!
