Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Justin Keen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake VanVactor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Keen comes to the cage accompanied by Round One. VanVactor has chosen Like a Pimp by David Banner as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Justin Keen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake VanVactor!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Keen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
VanVactor is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Keen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
VanVactor works his way to full guard. Good work.

Keen got a little sloppy there for a moment and VanVactor has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Keen has managed to get both his arms back between VanVactor's legs - danger averted.
Keen wants to control from the top but VanVactor keeps moving.
Keen throwing strikes but missing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A lazy left from Keen finds it's target.
Keen shoots in for a double leg but VanVactor sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

VanVactor has taken the fight to the clinch.

Keen is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
VanVactor is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

VanVactor turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Keen misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Keen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but VanVactor wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

VanVactor working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

VanVactor stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Keen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Keen rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but VanVactor moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Keen jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Keen connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Justin Keen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
VanVactor lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
A big left from Keen misses.
Nice takedown defense from VanVactor. No joy for Keen on that attempt.
Keen misses with a wild body shot.
VanVactor dodges the punch combination from Keen.
Keen misses with a few strikes there.
VanVactor displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Keen throws out the jab.

The fighters circling - Keen throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Keen shoots in but VanVactor avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Keen tries for a takedown but VanVactor sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Keen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

VanVactor shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Keen defends it nicely.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Keen clinches but VanVactor breaks the clinch

and VanVactor counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by VanVactor.
VanVactor seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Keen throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

VanVactor controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

VanVactor drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Keen dives on top into guard.

VanVactor lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Keen!

VanVactor moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Keen has worked his arm free - good work by Keen!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keen misses with a takedown attempt

and VanVactor counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
VanVactor wants to take a breather but Keen is having none of it.
VanVactor blocks the strikes from Keen.

VanVactor is looking for a kimura but Keen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for VanVactor to get the leverage.
Keen landing a few short strikes.
Keen tries to get to full guard but VanVactor has control of the leg.

VanVactor is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Keen is just riding it out for now. VanVactor eventually gives up the hold.
VanVactor wants to control but Keen is keeping him busy.
VanVactor is breathing heavily.
VanVactor might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Keen kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
VanVactor shoots in and drives through. Keen sprawls well.
VanVactor uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Keen.
Keen throws a combination that misses

and VanVactor counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by VanVactor.
VanVactor tries to free his leg and advance position but Keen is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
VanVactor seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Keen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
VanVactor looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Keen is fending him off so far but VanVactor persists. Nope, Keen circles away and we're back to standing.
VanVactor ducks under a wild hook from Keen.
Keen connects with a right hand. VanVactor shakes it off.
VanVactor is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Keen.

Keen's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Keen duly obliges.
Keen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

VanVactor gets the takedown into side control.
Keen is not content to let VanVactor control the position.
Keen tries to get back to half guard but can't.

VanVactor goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Keen has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for VanVactor but great work by Keen.
VanVactor tries to buck Keen off but Keen is having none of it.
Keen tries to score with some ground and pound. VanVactor controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
VanVactor is looking for a sweep.
VanVactor is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and VanVactor holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Keen slows down the pace here.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Keen for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
VanVactor is working for takedown but Keen is calmly controlling the position for now.

Jake VanVactor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Keen scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. VanVactor doesn't seem bothered though.

VanVactor is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Jake VanVactor is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Keen misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

I would just about give that final round to Jake VanVactor.
I've got VanVactor winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
