Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryu Hyabusa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryu Hyabusa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roger Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hyabusa fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gracie, pushing him back against the cage.
Gracie tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hyabusa just stands there and leans against the cage.
Gracie tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Gracie fails to pull guard.
Ryu Hyabusa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roger Gracie.
Hyabusa working hard to break the clinch.
Gracie tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Hyabusa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Gracie looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Hyabusa!
Gracie wants to control the pace but Hyabusa is squirming around nicely.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Gracie avoids the attempt from Hyabusa to control.
Gracie with the ground and pound from mount.
Hyabusa is breathing heavily.
Gracie landing strikes, looking to finish!

Gracie jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hyabusa manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Gracie tries to move into full mount but can't pass Hyabusa's legs.
Gracie wants to control but Hyabusa is keeping him busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hyabusa, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Gracie is looking to take a break and control but Hyabusa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Gracie misses with the ground and pound.
Hyabusa is not content to let Gracie control the position.
Gracie controls the position from side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Gracie is trying to get an arm triangle but Hyabusa is defending well.
Hyabusa is being controlled here.
Hyabusa gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Poor strikes thrown by Gracie there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Hyabusa regains half guard.
Gracie wants to free his trapped foot but Hyabusa is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Gracie slows the pace down in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gracie throwing shots but Hyabusa is blocking nicely.
Gracie trying to mount his opponent but Hyabusa defends it.
Gracie has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gracie is trying to control. Hyabusa wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Gracie sitting and controlling from the half guard.

Despite being in the dominant position, Roger Gracie just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hyabusa as he jumps to the side.

Gracie closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hyabusa is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Hyabusa is trying to control Gracie's posture but Gracie avoids it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hyabusa is looking to reverse the position.
Hyabusa is working hard here to advance position.

Gracie working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Gracie looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Hyabusa is avoiding damage well.
Gracie lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Gracie working the body and head with strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roger Gracie dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Hyabusa gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gracie to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Gracie passes into half guard.

Gracie is working for a kimura but Hyabusa is defending it quite comfortably.

Gracie has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Hyabusa defend it? Gracie steps over the head and cranks it - Hyabusa is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Gracie!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Roger Gracie!
