Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and GEORGES STPIERRE (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying STPIERRE's choice of entrance music: LOSE YOURSELF. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, GEORGES STPIERRE!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

STPIERRE shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Silva's guard.
STPIERRE trying to control the position from guard on top but Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for STPIERRE on the ground.
STPIERRE pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Silva is keeping the position for now.

STPIERRE lands a couple of elbows.
STPIERRE stays in close to Silva's body and controls the position.

STPIERRE slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Silva seems a little lost for a moment, as STPIERRE dominates the positioning.
The ground and pound from STPIERRE seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

STPIERRE stands up and beckons Silva to his feet.
Silva tries to clinch up but STPIERRE circles away and keeps his distance.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

STPIERRE gets a takedown into half guard.
Silva is trying to get back to full guard.
Silva won't allow STPIERRE to pass to mount.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

GEORGES STPIERRE dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Silva lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
STPIERRE fails to land the takedown.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
STPIERRE manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Silva manages to get himself to full guard.

Silva throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. STPIERRE was covering up waiting for the punch and Silva finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says STPIERRE as he avoids it easily.

Mark Silva overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
STPIERRE is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Silva misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
STPIERRE manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Silva misses with a takedown attempt - STPIERRE sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
STPIERRE lands an elbow that stopped Silva in his tracks for a moment.
STPIERRE is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Silva pulls him back up using the underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

STPIERRE gets control of Silva's arms and successfully pulls guard. STPIERRE will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
STPIERRE throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Silva works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
STPIERRE throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva's waist but Silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing STPIERRE off to one side.

STPIERRE pushes Silva off and scrambles back to his feet.

STPIERRE is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

STPIERRE is thwarting Silva's attempts to control the position.

STPIERRE wants to stand up but Silva is controlling the position.
Silva is staying active underneath STPIERRE, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Mark Silva showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Silva has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
