PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Doug Out (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Hart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Doug Out!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Hart!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Out clinches up against the cage.
Hart is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Out gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Out tries to score a body lock takedown but Hart shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Hart decides to pull guard.
Out wants to pass the guard but Hart is keeping the position.
Out knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hart on the ground.
Hart trying to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Out pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hart is keeping the position for now.
Hart trying to keep a closed guard but Out is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Out wants to stand and escape but instead Hart has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Out pulls Hart in close to prevent any damage.
Hart connects with a couple of short punches.
Out being controlled here, momentarily.
Hart looking to sit in guard and control but Out gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Out is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Hart lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Out!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hart misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Hart throwing strikes here but Out is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Out is squirming around, avoiding Hart's attempts to control the action.
Hart lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Hart looking to control but Out is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Out blocking the ground and pound.

Hart throws some wild stikes that Out manages to avoid easily.

Hart has hold of Out's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Out manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hart looks gassed!
Out really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Hart avoids the attempt from Out to control.
Out blocking the ground and pound.
Out is trying desperately to improve position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hart avoids the attempt from Out to control.
Poor strikes thrown by Hart there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Out is trying to escape the mount.
Out is working hard here to advance position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hart trying to control but he's not successful this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Hart dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Out shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Out wants to control but Hart is keeping him busy.
Out is taking a breather. Hart says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Hart has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hart gets back to full guard.
Hart pulls Out in close to prevent any damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hart is on top in guard.
Out is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hart wants to control from the top but Out keeps moving.
Hart throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Hart trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Out is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hart working some strikes from top position.
Hart would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hart lands with a thumping leg kick.
Hart stuffs the takedown attempt from Out. Out gets slowly back to his feet.
Hart lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hart dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Out. That did some damage!
Out fails in his attempt to clinch.

Hart feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hart postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hart pushing down on Out's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Hart with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Hart trying to mount his opponent but Out defends it.
Hart is thwarting Out's attempts to control the position.

Out wants to improve his position but Hart is controlling well.
Out pushes Hart off looking to stand but Hart dives back in and keeps control.
Hart uses his free foot to push down on Out's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Out.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hart throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Hart controlling the position easily from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Hart showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Hart fails with the takedown

and Out counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Out.
Hart wants to sweep here but Out controlling him for the moment.
Hart trying to control the position here.
Out trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Out stopping the sweep attempt from Hart.
Out is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Out slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Hart stops Out from passing to mount.
Hart regains half guard.
Hart is not content to let Out control the position.
Out is thwarting Hart's attempts to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Out prevents Hart from improving his position.
Out is controlling the pace.
Out is keen to just control but Hart is a slippery customer.
Hart tries to roll over but Out keeps him under control.
Hart has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Out is working away from the top position though.

Out controlling the action here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hart shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Sam Hart is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Out is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Hart wants to stand but Out has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Out pulls Hart in close to his closed guard and prevents Hart from doing any damage or advancing position.
Doug Out has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hart trying to control but Out is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hart stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Out swivels though and keeps the full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Doug Out showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Hart has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
