PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between David Dunne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Lock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dunne comes to the cage accompanied by Nopsajalka - Johnny Kidd. On his way into the cage it seems that David Dunne has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily David Dunne seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Dunne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrew Lock!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dunne misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lock.
Lock misses with a hook.
Lock throws a push kick but Dunne slaps the foot to one side.
Dunne tries to clinch up.
A big right from Dunne misses.
Lock swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Lock dives in and grabs Dunne's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dunne pushes down on Lock's head and hops out.

Dunne fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lock, pushing him back against the cage.
Lock wants a takedown.
Lock being controlled against the cage.
Lock fails to pull the fight into his guard.
David Dunne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrew Lock.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A frustrated look appears on Lock's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Lock tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Dunne just stands there and leans against the cage.
Lock tries to pull guard but Dunne holds him up against the cage and eventually Lock drops back down to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lock wants to break free but Dunne has control.
Lock is looking to break free of the clinch but Dunne has double underhooks.

Lock struggles to land a body shot inside as Dunne controls his hands.
Lock wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Lock is fighting off a takedown attempt but Dunne is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Lock to the mat. Lock regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Lock had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dunne defends it easily.
Dunne wants to control from the top but Lock keeps moving.
Dunne won't allow Lock to sweep him here.
Lock wants to get back to his feet but Dunne is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Dunne is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Dunne won't allow Lock to get back to his feet.

Dunne slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Lock looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Dunne passes into half guard.

Lock kicks Dunne off and gets back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Dunne's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Dunne wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Dunne lands a nice looking body shot.

Dunne looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Lock is staying active underneath Dunne, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Lock tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Dunne manages to move to mount!

Lock wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Dunne has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Lock's body.

Dunne has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Lock has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Lock breaks Dunne's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Lock drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dunne dives on top into guard.

Lock is looking for a triangle but Dunne pushes his legs off easily.
Lock is breathing heavily.
Dunne is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Dunne wants to control from the top but Lock keeps moving.

Lock looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Dunne passes into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Lock looking for submissions off his back.
Dunne is keen to just control but Lock is a slippery customer.
Dunne is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lock is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Lock is trying to stand.
Dunne looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Lock looking for submissions off his back.
Lock pushes Dunne off looking to stand but Dunne dives back in and keeps control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Dunne misses with an uppercut.

Dunne gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lock tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dunne smiles and moves away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Dunne tries to keep at a distance but Lock has taken the fight into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Dunne dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Lock stands up from Dunne's guard - Lock perhaps looking for a knockout.

Dunne clinches up with Lock and pushes him back against the cage.

Lock tries to pull guard but Dunne holds him up against the cage and eventually Lock drops back down to his feet.
Lock tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
David Dunne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrew Lock.

Dunne keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Lock's efforts to push away.
Lock is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
A bit of stalling here from Dunne.
Lock is trying to break free.
Dunne's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Lock jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dunne walks away with a smile on his face. Lock gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Dunne counters with a shoot takedown. Lock fights it but they end up in guard.

Lock throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Dunne escapes and throws Lock's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Lock takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Dunne is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Lock wants to get back to his feet but Dunne drags him back down.
Dunne cracks Lock with a big elbow.
Lock tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dunne wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Lock is trying to buck Dunne off.
Dunne is looking to take a break and control but Lock is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dunne is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Lock is looking to regain half guard here but Dunne keeps moving and retains side control.
Lock is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lock is staying active underneath Dunne, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Lock wants to stand back up but Dunne manages to pass into side control.
Lock is trying to buck Dunne off.
Lock is not content to let Dunne control the position.
Lock trying to remain calm as Dunne controls from the top position.
Andrew Lock has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Dunne has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
