PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Ritter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddell has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Ritter!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ritter changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Liddell looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Liddell is breathing heavily.
Liddell takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Ritter is trying to get an arm triangle but Liddell is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Liddell sneaks out the side door and pushes Ritter away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Ritter shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ritter showed some decent athleticism there.
Ritter lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Ritter is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Liddell defends it well.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Ritter scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Liddell to see if he's OK.

Liddell is pushing Ritter's head away, looking to escape. Ritter manages to hold on to the position though.
The referee asks Ritter politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ritter prefers to stall for the moment though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Liddell!
Ritter shoots in looking for a takedown. Liddell tries to sprawl out of it but Ritter keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Liddell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ritter drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Liddell tries to break the clinch but Ritter is controlling the position.
Ritter pushes Liddell back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Ritter scores with a nice hook to the head.

Ritter has Liddell pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Ritter pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Liddell tumbling to the mat - Ritter dives into Liddell's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ritter works over Liddell with some ground and pound from guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Ritter dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Ritter counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Ritter.

Liddell has one foot on Ritter's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Liddell throws a leg kick but Ritter moved away.

Ritter closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Liddell did well to prevent Ritter getting side control.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ritter clinches up against the cage.

Ritter has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Liddell regains guard immediately.

Liddell wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Ritter manages to pass to side control.

Ritter slips a nice elbow through Liddell's hands, connecting with Liddell's forehead.

Ritter looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Liddell with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Daniel Ritter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

I've got Ritter winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
