Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lamont Strothers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uriel Angel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angel fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Angel wants to clinch.
Strothers tries a head kick but it misses.
Angel throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Lamont Strothers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Angel tries to close the distance and clinch but Strothers swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Strothers fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Angel manages to avoid it.

Angel is pressed up against the ropes. Strothers has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Angel down to the mat. Angel avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Angel blocks a jab.
Strothers wants to clinch but Angel slips to the side
and Angel makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Strothers shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Angel counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lamont Strothers. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Horrible takedown by Strothers or perhaps it was just good defense by Angel which made him look bad.
Angel is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Angel lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Angel.
Strothers looks to land a left hand but Angel moved out of range nicely.

and Strothers counters with a nice double leg into side control. Angel won't be happy with that.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Angel stops Strothers from passing to mount.

Angel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Strothers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Strothers landing strikes from the mount and Angel is in trouble!
Angel tries to hold on but Strothers postures up.
Angel tries to reverse the position but Strothers maintains control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Angel is fighting off a takedown attempt but Strothers is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Angel to the mat. Angel regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Strothers is looking to work some ground and pound but Angel has wrist control.
Strothers is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Strothers is pushing down on Angel's leg trying to pass to half guard. Angel is fighting to maintain full guard but Strothers has managed to sneak the leg through.
Angel keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Strothers is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Angel sees it coming and defends easily.
Strothers thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Angel's head.

Strothers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Angel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Angel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Strothers.
Strothers throws a shot from downtown. Angel moves away and avoids it.
Strothers staying out of range there.
Angel scores with the left hand. Strothers knows he should have avoided that one.
Angel lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Strothers shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Angel sprawls well. Angel wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Strothers gets slowly back to his feet.
Strothers rushes Angel and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
Strothers tightens his grip and picks Angel up, before dumping him to the ground. Angel manages to land in guard.
Angel can't keep his opponent in guard - Strothers advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Strothers prevents Angel from standing back up.

Strothers is working for a kimura but Angel is defending it quite comfortably.
Strothers is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
