PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jorge Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mek Ju (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jorge Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mek Ju!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Hirohito Nitta and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ju tries for a takedown but Silva sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
No luck for Ju with that takedown attempt.
Mek Ju seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ju scores a takedown into full mount!
Silva slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Ju wants to stand up but Silva is controlling the position.
Silva manages to get to full guard.
Silva looking to control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva is really struggling to control Ju but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Silva is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ju defends well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
You can see the frustration on Silva's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Silva gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Jorge Silva will probably get the nod.

Ju fails with a takedown attempt.
Ju tries to score a power double leg takedown but Silva sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ju somewhat.

Ju has taken the fight to the clinch.
Silva tries to pull guard but Ju holds him up against the cage and eventually Silva drops back down to his feet.
Ju creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Silva's defenses.

Silva jumps guard but Ju stands there with Silva around his waist. Silva gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jorge Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ju drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Silva manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ju has Silva in his guard.

Ju wants to sweep but no luck.

Silva drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ju dives on top into guard.

Silva is working an open guard so Ju takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Ju has managed to clinch.

Ju turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Ju manages to end up in side control.
Silva manages to get back to half guard.
Silva is trying to maintain the position but Ju is very close to passing his half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ju is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mek Ju showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Silva jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ju is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ju and Silva has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

The ground and pound from Silva seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Silva prevents Ju from escaping the position.
Silva misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Silva is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ju knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Silva is trying to move to mount but Ju reverses beautifully and ends up in Silva's guard.
Silva is trying to control the position but Ju postures up.
Ju pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Silva is keeping the position for now.

Mek Ju comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Ju has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
