PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joe Dirt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Tiernan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dave Tiernan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dave Tiernan!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Kavanagh and Jorge Garcia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dirt throws out a leg kick but Tiernan moves out of range and Dirt only half commits.
Tiernan's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Tiernan duly obliges.
No luck for Tiernan with that takedown attempt.
Tiernan scores with a push kick.

Tiernan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tiernan lands in his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Tiernan decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dirt, up you get!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Dirt feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That was a close round but I would say that Joe Dirt will probably get the nod.

Well Dirt has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
