Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Billy Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xander Coll (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Billy Reed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Xander Coll!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Alyssa Summers and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab by Reed.


It looks like Xander Coll has been cut.
Reed throws a body punch but Coll moves out of range.
Coll misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Reed is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Coll's half guard.
Coll trying to hold on to Reed's head to control him but Reed postures up.
Reed trying to pass the guard but Coll defending well.
Coll is trying to control but can't.
Coll is doing well to control the position and prevent Reed from advancing to side control.

Reed is working for a submission of some sort.
Reed is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Coll is trying to maintain the position but Reed is very close to passing his half guard.

Reed looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Reed takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reed frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Coll wants to hold on but Reed pushes him away.
Coll is trying to escape the mount.
Reed is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Coll really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Reed moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Coll has worked his arm free - good work by Coll!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Coll is looking for a sweep.
Reed in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Reed trying to control the action but Coll is working from the bottom.

Reed is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Coll is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Reed shoots in but Coll avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Reed is breathing heavily.
Coll lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Coll.

Xander Coll seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Reed gets caught flat footed, as Coll shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Coll makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Coll must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Reed is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Reed has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Coll is working away from the top position though.

Coll tries to bum rush Reed with a series of wild strikes but Reed uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Coll misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Reed prevents Coll from improving his position.
Coll gets full guard.
Reed sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Coll's guard.

Coll changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Reed looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Coll postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Reed regains half guard, as Coll was trying to land strikes.

It looks like Coll is going to stand back up.

A close second round but Xander Coll will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Coll throws a right and a left that Reed avoids nicely.
Reed throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Reed digs a good hook to Coll's body.
Coll throws a combination that misses
and Reed connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Coll falls off balance throwing a combination
and Reed cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

letting Reed counter with a right hand.
Reed lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Coll looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Reed pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Reed shoots for a takedown but Coll saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Coll shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Reed but Reed pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Coll instigates a clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Coll prevents a takedown attempt there.
Reed can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Billy Reed. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Coll has clasped his hands together around Reed's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Coll throws an elbow but Reed slips to the side and avoids it well.
Reed manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Coll is pressing down on Reed's thigh, looking to free his foot. Reed is holding on for now.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Coll's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Reed looking to hit a scissor sweep but Coll is one step ahead there.
Coll has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Reed is proving hard to escape from.

Coll stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Reed has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Coll manages to get his head free but now Reed has transitioned to an armbar! Coll grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Reed! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
