PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pierre LePew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dante Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). LePew comes into the arena with It's Raining Men blaring out of the sound system. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pierre LePew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dante Woods!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woods takes a jab right on the kisser.
LePew throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Woods on the side of the head.
Woods swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Woods misses with a wild body shot.
Woods missing with a left hand there. LePew was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Woods misses the jab.
Woods lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like Pierre LePew has been cut.
Woods is looking to clinch.
LePew lands a nice hook to Woods's body. Woods takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
LePew fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
LePew is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Woods misses with a wild combination.

LePew tries for a kimura but Woods is defending well.

LePew is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Woods is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

LePew has hold of Woods's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Woods manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

LePew is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Woods to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Woods shrugs it off.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Woods is wriggling around trying to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Woods tries to lock up and control but LePew gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Woods sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

LePew wants to lay and pray for a moment but Woods keeps working.

LePew stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Woods swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Woods controls LePew momentarily but LePew frees himself.

Woods wants to stand and escape but LePew is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
LePew throws a quick inside leg kick.

Woods closes the distance and pushes LePew back into the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dante Woods is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
LePew shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Woods defends it nicely.

Dante Woods seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
LePew closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
LePew cracks Woods with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Woods lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Woods misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

LePew fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Woods sprawls well initially but LePew persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Woods is controlling LePew's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts LePew, as that shot connected.

A looping hook to the body misses from LePew. Woods does a little dance to reset his feet.
Woods gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
LePew has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Woods finds it's way round the side to connect with LePew's head.

LePew wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Woods fakes high and swings low for a body shot but LePew manages to avoid it.
Woods swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by LePew.

LePew shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than LePew was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

LePew wants to finish this one by submission but Woods is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from LePew.
Woods wants to hold on but LePew pushes him away.
Woods is desperately trying to improve his position but LePew has a good base and remains in mount.

LePew is trying to stick to Woods's back but Woods is turning into LePew. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in LePew's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Woods.

That was a close second round but I would say that Pierre LePew will probably get the nod.

LePew throws a low kick but it's checked well by Woods.
LePew shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Woods as he jumps to the side.

Woods throws a hook to the side of LePew's head but LePew sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Woods swings and misses with a hook to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Woods looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

LePew slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
LePew's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

LePew sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Woods's guard.

Woods wants to control but LePew is keeping busy.
LePew seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Woods is looking to escape.
LePew looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Woods pushes LePew off looking to stand but LePew dives back in and keeps control.
Pierre LePew overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for LePew, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
