PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pete Dunham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergio Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fernandez has chosen Kanye West - Amazing (instrumental) Ft. Young Jeezy as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Pete Dunham!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Sergio Fernandez!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dunham looks to throw the jab but Fernandez is out of range.
Fernandez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fernandez is defended easily by Dunham.
Dunham ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Fernandez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dunham tries to avoid it but Fernandez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dunham to the ground. Dunham escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Fernandez tries to close the distance and clinch but Dunham swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dunham is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Fernandez.

Fernandez moves away from the strike by Dunham.

Dunham gets caught flat footed, as Fernandez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Dunham wants to sweep but no luck.
Dunham is adopting a defensive guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fernandez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Fernandez is fighting to break Dunham's control of his arms but Dunham is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Dunham wants to sweep here but Fernandez controlling him for the moment.
Dunham is pulling down on Fernandez's head. It's preventing any offense from Fernandez, at least for the moment.
Fernandez wants to control from the top but Dunham keeps moving.

Dunham is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Fernandez stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Dunham changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fernandez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Dunham tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Dunham stands up and beckons Fernandez to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pete Dunham dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Fernandez ducks under a wild hook from Dunham.
Fernandez ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Fernandez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dunham swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Dunham tries for a takedown but Fernandez circles away easily
and Fernandez counters with a nice leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dunham tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Fernandez swivels and escapes.

Dunham looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fernandez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dunham takes an elbow to the temple.

Dunham breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Fernandez scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Dunham is letting Fernandez control him for a moment.
Dunham is not content to let Fernandez control the position.
Dunham tries to bench press Fernandez off him but Fernandez keeps the position.

Dunham takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Fernandez is looking to take a break and control but Dunham is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Dunham holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dunham is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Dunham controls the position for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sergio Fernandez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Dunham throws a jab but it's blocked by Fernandez.
Dunham cracks Fernandez with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Dunham connects with a right hand. Fernandez shakes it off.
Fernandez defending well as Dunham loads up on a big left hand.
Fernandez slips under a jab from Dunham.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Dunham avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pete Dunham seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fernandez blocks a jab.
Dunham fails with an attempt to clinch.
Fernandez pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Fernandez counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Dunham changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Fernandez fights it off and pushes away nicely.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Dunham is looking to advance position but Fernandez has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Fernandez wants to control the pace but Dunham is squirming around nicely.
Fernandez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Fernandez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dunham is looking to escape.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Sergio Fernandez.
I think Fernandez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
