Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Richard Head!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dean Preston!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Preston shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Head defends it nicely.

Preston closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Preston throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Preston throwing shots but Head is blocking nicely.

Preston is looking for a kimura here.
Head knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Preston on the ground.
Preston trying to mount his opponent but Head defends it.
Preston scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Head tries to get to full guard but Preston has control of the leg.

Head tries to kick Preston off but Preston keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Preston is working for a kimura but Head is defending it quite comfortably.
Preston throwing shots but Head is blocking nicely.
Head is trying to stand up here but Preston is controlling him well.
Preston winds up and cracks Head with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Head is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Preston not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Head throws a hook but Preston blocks it.
Preston misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Preston ducks right into an uppercut from Head.
Preston ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Head connects with a right hand. Preston shakes it off.
Preston takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Head misses with a wild body shot.
Head misses with a body shot.

Head lands a left and a right that send Preston crashing to the mat, dazed. Head thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Preston has closed the distance and engaged Head in a clinch.
Head content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Head tries to break the clinch but Preston is controlling the position.
Preston seems to have recovered his senses.
Preston is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Richard Head has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dean Preston.

Head breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Head throws a right and a left that both miss.
Preston is looking to clinch.

Head moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Head pushes Preston off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Richard Head seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Head looks to score with a jab to the body but Preston is just out of range.
Preston takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Head throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Preston slips a jab and a cross from Head.
Head misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Preston dodges the punch combination from Head.
Head swings for the body but Preston moves out of range.
Head scores with a one two! Preston had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Preston shoots in but Head avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Head throws a shot from downtown. Preston moves away and avoids it.
Head ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Preston moves away.
Head misses with a straight left.
Head throws a right and a left that both miss.
Head throws a one two combo.
Head misses with a looping right.
The fighters circling - Head throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Preston moves into range and clinches up with Head.
Preston is working for takedown but Head is calmly controlling the position for now.
Preston presses Head against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Preston lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Preston misses with a short punch on the inside.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Head.
Preston scores with a shot to the side of Head's head.
Preston wants a takedown but no success here.

Head throws a right hand that Preston ducks under and follows up with a left that Preston also avoids with ease.
Preston tries to close the distance and clinch but Head swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Preston shoots for a double leg takedown but Head sprawls well. He's pushed Preston's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Preston lands a head kick. Head smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Head lands a left and a right that send Preston crashing to the mat, dazed. Head thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Head misses with a straight right.
Head cracks Preston with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Preston falls to his knees and Head doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Richard Head!
