Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hathaway feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hathaway passes Pursey's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Pursey is staying active underneath Hathaway, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Hathaway has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Hathaway jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Pursey manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Pursey sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Pursey manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Hathaway thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Hathaway got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pursey has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hathaway has managed to get both his arms back between Pursey's legs - danger averted.

Pursey has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hathaway can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hathaway is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hathaway wants to take a breather but Pursey is having none of it.

Pursey has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Hathaway. Oh but Pursey has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Hathaway goes limp - he's gone! Pursey jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
