Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between fred griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Omar Makhdoom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Makhdoom is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Rocky Theme. Omar Makhdoom will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
griffin connects with a body shot.
Makhdoom keeps the fight on the outside.
Makhdoom throws a combination but it was largely blocked by griffin.
griffin misses with a combination

and Makhdoom counters with a shoot takedown. griffin fights it but they end up in guard.
Makhdoom prevents griffin from getting back to his feet.
Makhdoom content to stall in guard here.
Makhdoom's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Makhdoom wants to pass the guard but griffin is keeping the position.
Makhdoom throwing strikes from guard but griffin blocks nicely.

griffin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Makhdoom wants to control from the top but griffin keeps moving.
griffin wants to get back to his feet but Makhdoom is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
griffin trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
griffin takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Makhdoom ducks under a wild hook from griffin.
A big left from griffin misses.
Makhdoom throws a nice outside leg kick.
griffin is breathing heavily.
griffin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Makhdoom manages to avoid it.
Makhdoom lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

It looks like fred griffin has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Makhdoom misses with a double jab.
Makhdoom fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Makhdoom tests griffin's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Makhdoom's corner calls for a 1-2. Makhdoom obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Makhdoom throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Makhdoom lands a hook that stumbles griffin back into the cage. Makhdoom follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping griffin to the canvas! Makhdoom pounces and lands several unanswered shots - griffin has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
