The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Povetkin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Golybev napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Golybev is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Povetkin trying to control the position but Golybev is working away.
Golybev prevents Povetkin from improving position.
Golybev dodges the ground and pound from Povetkin.
Povetkin is looking to take a break and control but Golybev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Povetkin looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Golybev tries to buck Povetkin off but Povetkin is having none of it.
Povetkin creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Golybev sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Golybev goes for a takedown in the clinch but Povetkin prevents it.

Povetkin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Povetkin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
