The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ezcurra tried to score with a low kick but Skates checks it.
Skates has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

It looks like Bobby Skates has been cut.
Skates drops his hands momentarily and Ezcurra takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Skates darts in and clinches Ezcurra up against the cage.
Ezcurra drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Skates breaks the clinch.
A left and a right from Ezcurra both land. Nice combination.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ezcurra throws a right and a left that Skates avoids nicely.

Skates closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ezcurra gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Ezcurra has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Skates can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Skates with a flurry of punches that miss.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Skates got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ezcurra has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Skates has managed to get both his arms back between Ezcurra's legs - danger averted.

Ezcurra is looking for a triangle but Skates pushes his legs off easily.
Skates working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Skates accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ezcurra working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Skates doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Skates manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Skates wants to control from the top but Ezcurra keeps moving.

Ezcurra wants to sweep here but Skates controlling him for the moment.
Ezcurra wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Ezcurra bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Skates's guard.
Ezcurra sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Skates's guard.

Ezcurra looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Skates is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Ezcurra lands with a thumping leg kick.

Ezcurra has Skates up against the cage in a clinch.
Ezcurra blocks an elbow strike from Skates.
Skates tries to pull guard but Ezcurra holds him up against the cage and eventually Skates drops back down to his feet.

Ezcurra pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Horrible takedown by Skates or perhaps it was just good defense by Ezcurra which made him look bad.
Ezcurra lands a lovely overhand right.
Ezcurra tries for a takedown but Skates sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Skates stuffs the takedown.
Skates is breathing heavily.
Skates takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

That has opened up Bobby Skates's cut even more.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Ezcurra counters with a crisp right that sends Skates to the canvas! Ezcurra follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
