PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Orton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Batista (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Orton kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is What the World Needs Is a Few More Rednecks by Charlie Daniels. Jason Orton has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Orton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dave Batista!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Orton blocks a head kick by Batista.
Batista avoids a punch combination nicely.
Batista throws a lazy right hand but Orton sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Batista fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Batista throws a sloppy head kick and Orton moves out of range easily.
Orton looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Orton lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Batista circles away quickly and effectively.
Batista scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Orton throws a right hand that Batista ducks under and follows up with a left that Batista also avoids with ease.

Orton stuffs the takedown attempt from Batista. Batista gets slowly back to his feet.
Orton wants to clinch up but Batista keeps it at a distance.

Batista rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Orton moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Orton lands a left and a right that send Batista crashing to the mat, dazed. Orton thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


It looks like Dave Batista has been cut.
Batista looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Orton is fending him off so far but Batista persists. Nope, Orton circles away and we're back to standing.

Batista shoots for a takedown but Orton saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Orton gets underhooks to prevent Batista's takedown attempt.

No joy there for Batista, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Batista lands a really nice looking cross but Orton seems unphased.

Batista shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Batista showed some decent athleticism there.
Orton is looking to control Batista's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Orton avoid being mounted?

Batista is nestled in close to Orton, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Batista has closed the distance and engaged Orton in a clinch.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Batista might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Orton kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Batista is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Orton is staying active.

Dave Batista comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Batista has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
