Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rory Flannagan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Happy Gilmore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rory Flannagan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Happy Gilmore!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flannagan jabs Gilmore right on the nose. Gilmore blinks but takes it well.


It looks like Happy Gilmore has been cut.
Flannagan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gilmore bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Flannagan's head.
Flannagan tries to clinch there but Gilmore circles away.
Flannagan misses with a head kick.
Flannagan swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Flannagan is looking to clinch.
Flannagan misses with a body shot.
Flannagan throws a head kick that misses.

Gilmore shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Flannagan's guard.
Flannagan looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Gilmore looking to pass the guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Gilmore trying to control the position from guard on top but Flannagan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Flannagan looking for a guillotine here but Gilmore defends easily.
Gilmore not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Gilmore wants to control from the top but Flannagan keeps moving.
Gilmore looking to pass the guard.
Flannagan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Flannagan throws a hook but Gilmore blocks it.
Gilmore displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Flannagan throws out the jab.
Flannagan just misses with a punch to the body.
Flannagan moves out of range of the strikes.
Flannagan tries for a takedown but Gilmore circles away easily
and Gilmore counters with a stiff right hand.

and Gilmore connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
No joy there for Flannagan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Flannagan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Gilmore counters with a nice double leg into side control. Flannagan won't be happy with that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rory Flannagan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gilmore moves into full mount!

Gilmore jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Flannagan manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Gilmore thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Flannagan tries to buck Gilmore off but Gilmore is having none of it.
Flannagan struggling a bit here.
Gilmore is looking to take a break and control but Flannagan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Gilmore is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Flannagan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

You can see the frustration on Flannagan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gilmore is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Flannagan has escaped the position, nice work there.
Flannagan struggling a bit here.
Flannagan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gilmore wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Gilmore prevents Flannagan from improving his position.
Gilmore wants to pass the guard but Flannagan is defending well.
Flannagan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gilmore is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Flannagan is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Happy Gilmore!
