PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between William Hurt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesus Tabs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jesus Tabs told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Lou da Vinci and Eddie Farnsworth.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hurt stuffs the takedown attempt from Tabs. Tabs gets slowly back to his feet.
Hurt moves in looking to clinch but Tabs pushes him off.
Hurt doesn't manage to clinch there - Tabs circles away.
Tabs avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hurt tries to clinch but Tabs is having none of it.
Hurt tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tabs paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Tabs closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Hurt manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Tabs is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Tabs wants to control but Hurt is keeping busy and won't allow it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hurt tries to clinch but Tabs is having none of it.
Hurt tries to clinch but Tabs moves out of range.
William Hurt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tabs closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Tabs wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hurt, who protects the arm well.
Hurt wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Tabs is working to tighten is grip on Hurt's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Hurt has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Tabs is really squeezing tight and eventually Hurt passes out! Tabs breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
