Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Oscar Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Lionel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hernandez's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Cocteau Twins - Song to the Siren. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Oscar Hernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Lionel!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Steve Montenegro and Dean Styles.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hernandez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lionel.
Hernandez tries for a takedown but Lionel sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Hernandez thumps Lionel with a low kick.
Lionel throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hernandez's waist but Hernandez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lionel off to one side.
Hernandez scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Hernandez is looking to land body kicks.
Lionel throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Hernandez moves into the clinch.
Lionel has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Lionel is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hernandez gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Lionel is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Oscar Hernandez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Lionel.

Hernandez manages to pull guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hernandez wants to stand and escape but Lionel is having none of it.
Hernandez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Hernandez on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hernandez tries to get out of the position.
Lionel advances to half guard.

Hernandez tries to roll over but Lionel keeps him under control.
Lionel misses with a head shot. Hernandez uses the momentum to regain guard.
Hernandez is trying to control the position but Lionel postures up.
Hernandez wants to stand but Lionel is controlling the position.
Lionel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hernandez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lionel slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lionel wants to pass the guard but Hernandez is keeping the position.
Lionel wants to control from the top but Hernandez keeps moving.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Lionel looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Hernandez!
Hernandez is in all sorts of trouble here.

Lionel jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hernandez is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hernandez and Lionel has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Lionel looks gassed!
Hernandez tries to buck Lionel off but Lionel is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lionel has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Lionel dodges the punch combination from Hernandez.
Hernandez misses with a takedown
and Lionel counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Hernandez blocks a jab.
Lionel shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hernandez sprawls well. Hernandez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lionel gets slowly back to his feet.
Hernandez throws a series of punches but Lionel moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Lionel gets a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hernandez wants to get back to full guard.
Lionel trying to control the action but Hernandez is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oscar Hernandez dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Hernandez cracks Lionel with an open hand slap.
Lionel shoots in and drives through. Hernandez sprawls well.

Hernandez scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Lionel is rocked!
Hernandez lands a nice shot to the body.
Lionel is still on wobbly legs! Can Hernandez finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hernandez with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Lionel seems to have recovered his senses.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Hernandez! Lionel is out on his feet! Hernandez rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Lionel is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Lionel is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
