PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Masato Sama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buhawi Jack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Jack's choice of entrance music: enter sandman. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masato Sama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Buhawi Jack!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sama will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jack misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sama tries to clinch there but Jack circles away.

Sama tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jack sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sama somewhat.

Sama shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jack's guard.

Jack is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sama stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jack swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sama keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jack's head.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jack is looking to regain half guard here but Sama keeps moving and retains side control.
You can see the frustration on Jack's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Sama closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Jack avoiding damage as Sama throws knees to the body.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Sama looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Jack makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jack.
Sama wants to control from the top but Jack keeps moving.
Jack seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Jack controls Sama momentarily but Sama frees himself.

Jack has his foot on Sama's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sama works his way back into a safe position though.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sama tries to keep at a distance but Jack has taken the fight into the clinch.
Sama can't find room to land a body shot as Jack controls the action.
Sama has Jack pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Jack manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Jack's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jack doesn't manage to clinch there - Sama circles away.
