The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortizz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bastian's guard.
Ortizz postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Ortizz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ortizz is working Bastian over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
And thats the end of the round the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Ortizz darts in and clinches Bastian up against the cage.
Bastian is still on wobbly legs! Can Ortizz finish him?
Bastian's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Bastian escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ortizz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ortizz showed some decent athleticism there.
Bastian on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Ortizz lands with a punch from half guard.
Bastian seems to have recovered his senses.
Ortizz trying to control from half guard but Bastian is working away.
Bastian is breathing heavily.

Ortizz wants to take a breather but Bastian is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ortizz slips a nice elbow through Bastian's hands, connecting with Bastian's forehead.
Ortizz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bastian with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ortizz lands a nice short elbow.
Ortizz is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Bastian on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Ortizz prevents Bastian from improving his position.
Ortizz is looking to take a break and control but Bastian is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ortizz is nestled in close to Bastian, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Ortizz frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Ortizz postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Bastian in real trouble here! The ref calls for Bastian to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
