Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Shoryu Ken!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hidalgo Montoya!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montoya avoids the body shot from Ken.

Montoya is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Ken had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Ken scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Montoya escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ken gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Montoya is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Ken got a little sloppy there for a moment and Montoya has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ken has managed to get both his arms back between Montoya's legs - danger averted.
Ken might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Ken changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Montoya looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Check out the look on Ken's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Montoya is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ken's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Montoya is looking to improve his position.
Ken thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Montoya's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Ken's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Montoya lands a jab to Ken's midsection.
Montoya throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ken stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Montoya displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ken throws out the jab.

Ken's corner calls for a 1-2. Ken obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Ken just misses with a punch to the body.

Ken closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Ken is working for a submission of some sort.
Ken wants to pass to mount but Montoya is defending the position.

Ken throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Ken with the ground and pound but Montoya uses the opportunity to regain guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ken loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Ken throws a strike but Montoya rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Montoya stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ken swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ken drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Montoya manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ken has Montoya in his guard.

Ken is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Montoya slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Ken tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Montoya wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Montoya laying and praying for a moment but Ken takes advantage and regains half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ken is pressing down on Montoya's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Hidalgo Montoya.
I think Montoya has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
