Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Byeongsuk Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vasily Smyslov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kim comes to the cage accompanied by Choi Hong Man-Beauty and the Beast. Smyslov comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Potpourri D'Orange (SZS MAD Ver.) kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Man, I cannot wait for this one!

The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim on the wrong end of a nice hook.


It looks like Byeongsuk Kim has been cut.
Smyslov swings for the body but Kim moves out of range.
Smyslov swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kim misses the jab.
Kim wants to clinch up but Smyslov keeps it at a distance.
Smyslov throws a lazy right hand but Kim sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Kim looks to score with a jab to the body but Smyslov is just out of range.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Smyslov with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Kim to score with a decent uppercut.
Smyslov throws a hook but Kim avoids it easily.
Kim throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Smyslov on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Smyslov lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Kim fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Smyslov checks it well.
Kim takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kim misses with an uppercut. Smyslov saw that one coming.
Kim fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Smyslov looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kim. Smyslov does a little dance to reset his feet.
Smyslov keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Smyslov chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Smyslov misses with a two punch combination.
Smyslov avoids the body shot from Kim.
Kim throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Smyslov counters with a thumping low kick.
Kim is breathing heavily.

Smyslov drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Smyslov takes a little break here. Kim wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Smyslov misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Smyslov grinds an elbow into Kim's temple.
Smyslov in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Smyslov controls the position from side control.

Kim gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Kim is trying to control but can't.
Smyslov prevents Kim from improving his position.
Smyslov is just content to waste time from the top position. Kim takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Smyslov controls from within his opponent's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smyslov throwing strikes but missing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smyslov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Smyslov might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kim kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Smyslov takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Smyslov fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Poor strikes thrown by Smyslov there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Smyslov goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Kim is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smyslov can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kim controls the pace.
Smyslov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Byeongsuk Kim's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Smyslov takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Smyslov wants to control the pace but Kim is squirming around nicely.

Vasily Smyslov is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Smyslov is controlling Kim's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Smyslov has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kim is working away from the top position though.
Kim prevents Smyslov from improving his position.
Smyslov on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Kim wants to free his trapped foot but Smyslov is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Kim throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

I've got Smyslov winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
