PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark Kraken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sizzle Snappe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Snappe comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Power kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Kraken!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sizzle Snappe!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kraken thows a body shot but no joy.
Kraken rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Snappe moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Snappe clinches with his opponent.

Kraken is fighting off a takedown attempt but Snappe is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kraken to the mat. Kraken regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kraken preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Snappe looking to sit in guard and control but Kraken gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Kraken knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Snappe on the ground.
Kraken slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Snappe looking for a sweep. Not yet Snappe, not yet.
Kraken's corner is telling him to maintain position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Snappe working for a triangle but Kraken defends it easily.
Kraken stands and throws Snappe's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Snappe manages to work his way to half guard, despite Kraken's best efforts.
Snappe wants to improve his position but Kraken is controlling well.
Kraken trying to pass the guard but Snappe defending well.
Snappe wants to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
It looks like Kraken is going to stand back up.
Snappe manages to get to full guard.
Snappe looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kraken is one step ahead there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nice defenses there by Snappe.
Mark Kraken is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Snappe tries to land a front kick but Kraken steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Snappe displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kraken throws out the jab.
Kraken misses with a series of wild punches.

Snappe shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kraken's guard.
Snappe in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Snappe looking to pass the guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Snappe scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Kraken is looking to stand up but Snappe isn't so interested in that idea.
Snappe slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Snappe wants to control from the top but Kraken keeps moving.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Snappe is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kraken is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kraken has escaped and now he's on top!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sizzle Snappe dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Kraken on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Snappe. Snappe obviously looking to wear him down.

Snappe scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Snappe scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Kraken to see if he's OK.
Snappe postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Snappe is looking to take a break and control but Kraken is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kraken tries to improve position but can't.
Snappe tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Snappe in side control, throwing shots but Kraken defends.
Snappe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kraken keeps working.

Snappe is trying to get an arm triangle but Kraken is defending well.
Snappe working the strikes but Kraken uses the opportunity to regain half guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Snappe scores with a kick to the midsection.
Kraken pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Snappe looks for the body kick but Kraken saw that one coming.
Snappe pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kraken changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Snappe takes a jab right on the kisser.
Kraken throws a good cross that connects.
Snappe changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kraken tries to avoid it but Snappe manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kraken to the ground. Kraken escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Snappe lands a nice looking kick to the body. Kraken takes a step back to recover.
The fighters circle momentarily. Kraken darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Some wild striking there from Kraken.

Kraken lands a left and a right that send Snappe crashing to the mat, dazed. Kraken thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Snappe is rocked!


It looks like Sizzle Snappe has been cut.
Sizzle Snappe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Snappe is looking to land body kicks.
Kraken scores with a jab to the jaw.
Snappe is still on wobbly legs! Can Kraken finish him?
Some wild striking there from Kraken.
Snappe seems to have recovered his senses.
Snappe blocks a jab.
Mark Kraken is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Snappe shoots in for a takedown but Kraken shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Snappe misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Snappe bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Snappe is breathing heavily.
Snappe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kraken keeps working.
Snappe working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Snappe in side control, throwing shots but Kraken defends.

Snappe tries for a kimura but Kraken is defending well.
Kraken regains half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Snappe thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Snappe missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Snappe is looking for a kimura but Kraken is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Snappe to get the leverage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Snappe throws the kick towards the body but Kraken avoids it.

Snappe throws a head kick that misses.
Kraken blocks a leg kick.
Kraken throws a shot to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A left lands for Kraken.
Kraken connects with a good right hand that stumbles Snappe. Snappe circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Snappe tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kraken jabs Snappe right on the nose. Snappe blinks but takes it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Kraken dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Sizzle Snappe's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Kraken just misses with a punch to the body.
Kraken works Snappe's body with a nice hook.
Kraken lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Snappe circles away quickly and effectively.
Kraken stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kraken wants it to stay on the feet.
Kraken lands with an uppercut that bounces Snappe off the cage and back into rage.
Kraken jabs at Snappe's body.
Kraken bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Snappe's head backwards.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Snappe walks straight into a right hand from Kraken - that's dropped him! Kraken jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Snappe from any more punishment! Snappe complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Mark Kraken!
