PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Orh Urdaalen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Arlovski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Urdaalen's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Dope - I'm Back . Orh Urdaalen has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Orh Urdaalen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fedor Arlovski!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Dean Styles and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Arlovski has managed to clinch.
Arlovski is trying to drag Urdaalen to the mat but Urdaalen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Arlovski breaks from the clinch.

Arlovski shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Urdaalen napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Arlovski throws a strike aimed at the side of Urdaalen's head but Urdaalen avoids it well.
Arlovski sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Urdaalen is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Urdaalen manages to get back to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Arlovski rushes Urdaalen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Arlovski breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Urdaalen dodges the punch combination from Arlovski.
Arlovski is looking to clinch but Urdaalen is avoiding it.
No joy there for Arlovski, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Arlovski lands with a slapping head kick.

Arlovski slaps away a takedown attempt from Urdaalen, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Arlovski wants to stand and escape but Urdaalen is having none of it.

Urdaalen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Arlovski swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Arlovski has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Arlovski has his feet on Urdaalen's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Arlovski takes one on the button.
Urdaalen showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Arlovski.

and Urdaalen counters with a takedown into side control.
Orh Urdaalen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fedor Arlovski.
Arlovski is looking to get back to his feet here but Urdaalen is keeping cool and he's managed to take Arlovski's back.

That was a close round but I would say that Orh Urdaalen will probably get the nod.

Arlovski moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

A jab-cross combination lands for Arlovski and sends Urdaalen crashing to the mat! Arlovski follows him down to the mat - Urdaalen regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Arlovski escapes and gets back to his feet.

Arlovski drives through with a takedown into guard.
Urdaalen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Arlovski is one step ahead there.
Arlovski wanted to stand there but Urdaalen had control of the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Arlovski is pushing down on Urdaalen's leg trying to pass to half guard. Urdaalen is fighting to maintain full guard but Arlovski has managed to sneak the leg through.

Arlovski is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Urdaalen is just riding it out for now. Arlovski eventually gives up the hold.
Urdaalen is not content to let Arlovski control the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Urdaalen is defending against the submission attempts here by Arlovski.
Arlovski is trying to control the action in half guard but Urdaalen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Arlovski is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Arlovski seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Urdaalen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Urdaalen on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Urdaalen tries to get out of the position.
Arlovski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Urdaalen keeps working.

Arlovski thows a huge punch but Urdaalen dodges it nicely.

Arlovski throws a strike but Urdaalen avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Arlovski throws a series of punches but Urdaalen moves out of range.
Arlovski lands a nice hook to Urdaalen's body. Urdaalen takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Arlovski lands a really nice looking cross but Urdaalen seems unphased.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Urdaalen could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Arlovski is trying to control the position but Urdaalen postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fedor Arlovski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Arlovski is trying hard to land a takedown here. Urdaalen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Urdaalen is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Arlovski.
Arlovski rushes Urdaalen with punches - Urdaalen moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Urdaalen goes down! Arlovski follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:16 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fedor Arlovski!
