Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wanderlei Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demian Jiraya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva throws a right and a left that Jiraya avoids nicely.

It looks like Demian Jiraya has been cut.
Silva throws an overhand right that lands on Jiraya's shoulder, as Jiraya tries to avoid the shot.
Jiraya shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Silva as he jumps to the side.
Silva fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Jiraya on the side of the head.
Silva is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jiraya.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jiraya takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Jiraya closes the distance and clinches up with Silva, looking for a takedown. Jiraya pushes Silva against the cage but Silva circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The fighters circle momentarily. Silva darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Silva waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Jiraya. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Jiraya to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
The cut above Demian Jiraya's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Silva seems to be working for a kimura but Jiraya defends the submission attempt.

Silva is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Silva is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jiraya doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Silva.
Jiraya is trying to maintain the position but Silva is very close to passing his half guard.

Jiraya has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Silva is working away from the top position though.

Silva is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jiraya is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jiraya has escaped and now he's on top!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jiraya's best efforts.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Silva throws a series of punches but Jiraya avoids them all with ease.

Demian Jiraya's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Silva throws out a loose jab but Jiraya uses good head movement to avoid it.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Demian Jiraya's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
