Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Carsten Brian Kassler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mihail Medvedev!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Medvedev or perhaps it was just good defense by Kassler which made him look bad.

Kassler shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Medvedev manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Kassler's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Kassler tries to free his leg and advance position but Medvedev is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kassler seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kassler got a little sloppy there for a moment and Medvedev has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kassler has managed to get both his arms back between Medvedev's legs - danger averted.

Kassler decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Medvedev, up you get!

so Kassler counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Kassler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Medvedev swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kassler stands and steps away. Medvedev gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kassler.

Medvedev is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kassler seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Medvedev for as long as he can get away with.
Kassler knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Medvedev on the ground.

Kassler is looking to take a break and control but Medvedev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Medvedev is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kassler connects with a decent elbow.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well Kassler has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
