PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Ryder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rhakesh Alhazred (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jacob Ryder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rhakesh Alhazred!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryder will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rhakesh Alhazred seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ryder avoids the head kick by Alhazred.

Alhazred looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Alhazred displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ryder.
Alhazred throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Alhazred lands the left hand.
Alhazred fails to land with a series of punches.

Ryder drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Alhazred is on top in guard.
Ryder bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alhazred's guard.

Ryder throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alhazred works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Alhazred pulls Ryder in close to his closed guard and prevents Ryder from doing any damage or advancing position.
Alhazred wants to sweep here but Ryder controlling him for the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ryder content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Alhazred wants to sweep here but Ryder controlling him for the moment.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ryder tries to score a power double leg takedown but Alhazred sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ryder somewhat.

Alhazred stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Alhazred wants it to stay on the feet.
Alhazred throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Ryder uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Alhazred.

Alhazred thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Ryder if he has to take too many more of those.
Ryder is breathing heavily.
Alhazred misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Alhazred fails to land with a series of punches.
Alhazred misses with a head kick.
Alhazred lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ryder circles away quickly and effectively.

Ryder shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ryder showed some decent athleticism there.
Alhazred is looking for a sweep. Ryder is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Alhazred is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ryder's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ryder's back!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rhakesh Alhazred dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Alhazred throws a right and a left that Ryder avoids nicely.
Alhazred throws a nice looking combination but Ryder bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Ryder checks a leg kick.
Ryder tries for a takedown but Alhazred sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Ryder shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Alhazred napping and manages to drive through into side control!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Alhazred wants to hit a switch here but Ryder passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Alhazred there!
Alhazred tries to hold on but Ryder pushes him away.
Ryder thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Ryder cracks Alhazred with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Ryder throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Alhazred because Ryder loaded up on that one.

Alhazred is looking to get to half guard.
Ryder tries to control but Alhazred wriggling away.
Ryder prevents Alhazred from getting the reversal.

Alhazred is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jacob Ryder will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


A head kick misses from Alhazred.

Ryder shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Alhazred's guard.
Alhazred looking for a sweep. Not yet Alhazred, not yet.
Alhazred avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Alhazred is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ryder has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Alhazred is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ryder.

A decent looking body kick lands there for Alhazred.

Alhazred does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Alhazred throws out a loose jab but Ryder uses good head movement to avoid it.

Alhazred is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Alhazred can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Ryder shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Alhazred defends it nicely.

Rhakesh Alhazred comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Alhazred has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
