Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tom Wopat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boleslaw Smialy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Smialy's choice of entrance music: Vandals by Dirtyphonics. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wopat looks to land a combination but Smialy avoids it well.
Wopat slaps away a takedown attempt from Smialy, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Wopat swinging wildly here.
Smialy will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Smialy just misses with a punch to the body.
Smialy tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wopat was well out of range. Poor timing from Smialy.
Wopat tries to bum rush Smialy with a series of wild strikes but Smialy uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Wopat misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smialy looks to land a left hand but Wopat moved out of range nicely.
No joy there for Wopat, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Good exchange - Wopat coming out on top.
Wopat lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Smialy circles away quickly and effectively.

Wopat scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Smialy dives in and grabs Wopat's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wopat pushes down on Smialy's head and hops out.
Tom Wopat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Boleslaw Smialy.
Wopat bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Boleslaw Smialy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wopat lands a glancing blow to the side of Smialy's head.
Wopat loads up on a big right hand but Smialy slips the punch.
Smialy throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Smialy shoots for a double leg takedown but Wopat sprawls well. He's pushed Smialy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Wopat keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Smialy throws a body punch but Wopat moves out of range.

Wopat gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Smialy to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Smialy trying to control the position from guard on top but Wopat is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wopat wants to stand and escape but Smialy is having none of it.

Wopat trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Wopat is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Smialy dives into side control.
Smialy wants to control but Wopat is keeping him busy.
Smialy throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Smialy has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Wopat!
Smialy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Smialy wants to finish this one by submission but Wopat is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Smialy.
You get the feeling that Wopat really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Wopat on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wopat tries to get out of the position.
Smialy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Smialy fails to move to back control.

Smialy is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Wopat has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Wopat wants to try and get back to his feet.
Smialy sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
I looks like Smialy might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Wopat is trying to escape the mount but Smialy keeps good control and instead manages to take Wopat's back.
Wopat is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Smialy working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Wopat is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Smialy has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Wopat taps out!
