Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jay ar Kings (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Scarpelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jay ar Kings!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marco Scarpelli!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Shimada and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kings tries a head kick but it misses.
Scarpelli shoots for a double leg takedown but Kings sprawls well. He's pushed Scarpelli's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kings throws a sloppy head kick and Scarpelli moves out of range easily.
Kings stuffs the takedown.
Scarpelli throws a right and a left that Kings avoids nicely.
Kings throws and low kick but Scarpelli moves out of range easily.
Kings gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Scarpelli counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Scarpelli is trying to control the action in half guard but Kings is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Scarpelli lands with a punch from half guard.
Kings looks like he's trying to stand up.

Scarpelli is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kings doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Scarpelli.
Kings on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Scarpelli thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Scarpelli gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Kings throws and low kick but Scarpelli moves out of range easily.
Kings misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kings doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Scarpelli counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kings is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Scarpelli scores with a couple of nice shots.
Scarpelli is trying to control. Kings wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Scarpelli sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Kings defending well though.
Kings is breathing heavily.

Scarpelli is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Scarpelli decides to stand and escape the position.
Kings lands with a kick to the ribs.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kings.

Scarpelli feints and as Kings raises his hands in defense, Scarpelli changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kings has a closed guard, preventing Scarpelli from standing up.

Scarpelli controls from within his opponent's guard.
Scarpelli missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Kings working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Scarpelli.

Scarpelli drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kings dives on top into guard.
Kings trying to stand up but can't free himself from Scarpelli's guard.
Kings advances to half guard.
Scarpelli has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kings is looking to pass Scarpelli's guard but actually Scarpelli recovers to full guard.
Scarpelli looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kings is one step ahead there.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kings accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kings trying to stand up but can't free himself from Scarpelli's guard.

Kings stands up from Scarpelli's guard - Kings perhaps looking for a knockout.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marco Scarpelli dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kings misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kings tries to close the distance and clinch but Scarpelli swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jay ar Kings is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kings throws a body kick that misses.

Kings shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kings was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Scarpelli is working to get back to half guard.
Scarpelli is squirming around, avoiding Kings's attempts to control the action.
Scarpelli is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kings trying to control but he's not successful this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Scarpelli wants to control but Kings is having none of it.
Scarpelli is trying to escape the mount.
Kings throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Kings wants to get back to his feet but Scarpelli is holding on tight.
Kings avoids the attempt from Scarpelli to control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kings prevents Scarpelli from getting the reversal.
Kings controlling the position easily from mount.
Kings wants to control the pace but Scarpelli is squirming around nicely.
Kings misses with a head shot.
Kings trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Scarpelli manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Scarpelli makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Kings throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kings is looking to land body kicks.
A head kick misses from Kings.

Kings gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Scarpelli working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Scarpelli seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Scarpelli wants to control from the top but Kings keeps moving.

Kings is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Scarpelli is controlling him.
Scarpelli landing some decent shots from guard.

Scarpelli is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Scarpelli scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marco Scarpelli showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Kings fails to land with a series of punches.
Kings throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Scarpelli drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Scarpelli is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Scarpelli throwing strikes from guard but Kings blocks nicely.
Scarpelli trying to control the position from guard on top but Kings is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Scarpelli drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Scarpelli jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Scarpelli tries to stand but Kings is controlling from the bottom.
Scarpelli wants to control from the top but Kings keeps moving.
Scarpelli stops Kings from standing up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kings throws the kick towards the body but Scarpelli avoids it.
Scarpelli avoids the head kick by Kings.

Scarpelli changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kings looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Scarpelli cracks Kings with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Scarpelli is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kings is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Scarpelli wants to control but Kings is keeping him busy.
Scarpelli is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Scarpelli throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Scarpelli tries for a kimura but Kings is defending well.
Scarpelli wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kings keeps working.

Scarpelli thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Kings is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Scarpelli asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Kings tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kings tries a head kick but it misses.

Scarpelli darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Marco Scarpelli is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Scarpelli not doing much here.
Jay ar Kings has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Marco Scarpelli comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Scarpelli winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
