Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Franks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Boyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, James Boyd!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Richard Clark and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boyd fails to land the takedown.

Franks closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Boyd to the mat! Boyd manages to get full guard.
Franks wants to pass the guard but Boyd is keeping the position.
Franks has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Boyd is proving hard to escape from.

Franks drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Boyd manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Franks has Boyd in his guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Franks doesn't manage to clinch there - Boyd circles away.
James Boyd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Boyd is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The fighters are battling for position here. Boyd manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Boyd has control of Franks's left arm, preventing Franks from doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boyd bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Franks's guard.

Franks is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Franks wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Franks throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Boyd distracts Franks with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Franks postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Franks tries to move to mount but Boyd blocks the move with his legs.
Franks tries to score with some ground and pound. Boyd controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Franks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Boyd keeps working.
Boyd manages to work his way to half guard, despite Franks's best efforts.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
