Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alistair Overeem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Royce Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alistair Overeem!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Royce Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie needs to keep his hands up - Overeem had a free shot at his head there.
Overeem tries to bum rush Gracie with a series of wild strikes but Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Alistair Overeem seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A combination from Overeem does no damage.
Overeem throws a right hand that Gracie ducks under and follows up with a left that Gracie also avoids with ease.

Gracie is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Overeem's half guard.
Overeem wants to get back to full guard.

Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Overeem is in trouble now - Gracie has advanced to mount!

Overeem really wants to buck Gracie off and get back to his feet.

Gracie is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Overeem to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Overeem shrugs it off.
Overeem is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Gracie is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Overeem can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Overeem is trying to reverse the position but instead Gracie has taken his back - oops!
Overeem is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Overeem holding both Gracie 's hands and preventing any damage.
Overeem is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gracie looking for the RNC.
Overeem wants to get back to his feet.

Gracie tightening his grip on Overeem, looking for the choke.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Overeem fending off the submission attempt from Gracie.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Overeem tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Royce Gracie dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Overeem throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nice takedown defense from Overeem. No joy for Gracie on that attempt.

Gracie decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Overeem is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gracie pulls his head out easily.

Overeem actively working from the bottom here.
Gracie uses his free foot to push down on Overeem's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Overeem.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gracie moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Overeem has worked his arm free - good work by Overeem!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Overeem is trying to get back to his feet.

Gracie goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Overeem has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gracie but great work by Overeem.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Overeem is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Gracie looks calm but he's in trouble here. Overeem gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Gracie is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Overeem lets go of the hold and Gracie can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Alistair Overeem!
